
Corene (member since 1996), Brian (member since 1992) and Cassandra (member since 1992): past Mali Yetu students who became Leaders and went on to work as staff with Mali Yetu. Corene graduated with a theater degree from Howard University, Brian is Mali Yetu's Director for the summer program, and Cassandra is an education major at Cleveland State University

Mali Yetu alumni often remain involved in the program and events throughout the year. Many come back as staff or volunteers. Most former student leaders take advantage of the Ronald Spivey Scholarship while they are in college.
Jamal, who started with Mali Yetu at the age of 6, now teaches singing and geography with Mali Yetu.
Many Mali Yetu alumni are students and graduates of colleges and universities all over the country, including several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). There are actors, musicians, college professors, entrepreneurs, and journalists amung Mali Yetu's alumni. Mali Yetu even has a former professional NFL player amongst its alumni ranks.
Vashon, who started with Mali Yetu at the age of 6, using his lifeguard certification to work part-time with Mali Yetu. Vashon earned a master's degree in Public Administration at the University of Akron

Bakers Square will give Mali Yetu 10 percent of all its sales between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. This is part of Mali Yetu’s fundraising for the trip to Ghana.
