Classes

Mali Yetu’s summer program is offered to children aged 6 to 12. The mornings consist of academic subjects, such as history, geography, literature, math, computers, and Swahili. During the afternoons the students participate in physical activities such as swimming, art, music, soccer, and martial arts.

On Fridays the students go on fieldtrips to local sites. One of the fieldtrips every summer is out of town and requires an overnight stay. The field trips always revolve around the summer’s theme (e.g. the 2007 theme is “the Great Migration North” and the students will be heading to Baltimore, MD).

Admittance to the program is on a first come, first served basis.

The students are divided into three groups: 6-8 year-olds, 9-10 year-olds, and 11 and 12 year-olds. Students take their morning courses with other students in their age group.
